Vineyard Notes

Domaine Tortochot is wine producer based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, in the northern Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. The domaine specializes in wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety and is most recognized for its three premier cru wines produced from the renowned Lavaux-Saint-Jacques and Champeaux Premier Cru vineyards in Gevrey, as well as the Aux Charmes Premier Cru climat in Morey-Saint-Denis.

About the Wine Maker

Chantal works all her wines in the same manner. She says that each vineyard just yields different material to work with. So, each of her wines tastes a bit different to reflect the various vineyards where she owns vines. Furthermore, she likes to let the winemaking process happen naturally. She feels that great fruit from great vineyards will make world-class wines if the winemaker simply oversees the process. And her approach works. Chantal’s wines all have a similar style — powerful structure marked by finesse and elegance.

Tasting Notes

A lively and well structured red burgundy. The supple, round tannins and fruit are well balanced. Plenty of volume and body.
